Liverpool Agree £15m Sale Of Takumi Minamino To Monaco

Liverpool sold Takumi Minamino to Monaco in a deal that could be worth as much as £15 million.

The deal with the French club was made last week, and the Japanese player has now signed personal terms and gone through a medical.

After Sadio Mane, he is the second big name to leave Anfield this summer. Mane went to Bayern Munich.

They bought Minamino from RB Salzburg for £7.5 million in January 2019. Since then, he has made them twice as much money.

At the time, Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino were the front three players, so he could only play 55 times. When Diogo Jota and Luiz Diaz were bought, it became clearer that his job was to be a back-up. But Minamino turned out to be a useful member of the team. He scored 14 goals, most of which were in domestic cups.

Monaco will pay the 27-year-old a guaranteed £12.5 million and an additional £2.5 million in add-ons.

Liverpool has spent the last two weeks trying to sell players instead of bringing in new ones.

Neco Williams is likely to be the next player to leave Liverpool, but the club wants at least £15 million for the Welsh right back. So far, Nottingham Forest and Southampton have shown the most interest.

Williams has become a regular starter for Wales before this year's World Cup, and he has done well for Fulham as they try to get promoted.

Liverpool doesn't expect any more first-team players to leave, but if Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gets a good offer, that could change.

This weekend, Divock Origi's contract with Liverpool officially ends, so he is in Italy working out details with AC Milan. He moves without having to pay Bosman anything.
