The Lagos government and LASODA will work together to help PLWDs get the care they need

LAGOS – The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) told people living with disabilities (PLWDs) in Lagos State that it will work with all parts of the government to make sure that PLWDs can use all of the health care programs that are available to them.

Dare Dairo, the general manager of LASODA, said this on Tuesday at a program to raise awareness about a health care insurance scheme policy in Lagos State that is in line with the Special People's Law.

Dairo talked about the theme "Health is Wealth." He said that the Lagos State government doesn't mess around with its residents' health care, which is why it has set up many health care facilities to take care of all of its residents, including PLWDs.

"The problem of PLWDs is important to the government of Lagos State. It has done everything it can to make sure that people with disabilities can take part in day-to-day activities. One part of this is making sure no one is left behind." The move to make sure that no one is left behind was a confirmation of LASODA's mission to make sure that Mr. Babajide Sanwo-vision Olu's goal of not leaving anyone behind, including people with disabilities, in the day-to-day running of his administration is not in doubt "Dairo said.

He said that was also one of the reasons why the agency was made. He also said, "The Federal Government has also helped, especially with the recently signed Act of Disability." But he said, "At the state level, we need to work together more to come up with more ways to show PLWDs how much the community loves them and get more people to help us reach our goal."

The General Manager told PLWDs to come forward and take advantage of the many opportunities in the state, even ones that have nothing to do with health care. He also told them to be patient with the government and ask for what they want in a good way.

Dairo said, "I want to ask all the PLWDs to be patient, proactive, and constructive when bringing up issues, because we can see that the Lagos State government is a listening government, and I can promise you that there will be fair solutions in the end."

In his welcome speech, Lagos State Commissioner for Health Professor Akin Abayomi, who was represented by Dr. Tolu Ajomale, said that PLWDs should not be in a hurry when they go to hospitals for health problems. Instead, they should be patient and explain everything that affects their health.

In his talk about the history of the Equity Fund by LASHMA, Olusegun Braimoh also said that health insurance for all residents of Lagos State, including PLWDs, is very important and helpful. This is especially true since a lot of money has been set aside to take care of the health of all residents of the state, no matter their color, religion, or race.

He said that at least 200 hospitals work with LASHMA and that people with disabilities are not left out.

"Ilera Eko, a new standard social health insurance plan, is a basic health insurance plan that includes primary and secondary health care accessories for everyone, regardless of time, age, or status, including people with disabilities.

Mudashiru Obasa was the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Sunday Ladipo spoke for him. He said that the Lagos Assembly was known for making laws and praised LASODA for putting on a successful program to raise awareness. He also said that laws and policies would still be made to help people with disabilities.

Obasa said, "It is up to all of us to recognize that people with disabilities have the right to live with dignity and have the same opportunities as everyone else."

A lot of people who work with people with disabilities or care about them were at the event. As expected, they asked a lot of important questions that weren't clear, but the offices of LASODA and LASHMA took care of them one by one when it came to getting health insurance.
