FG Renews Support For NYSC Scheme

On Tuesday, the Federal Government said that it would keep supporting the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program all over the country.

Amb. Fatima Abubakar, the head of the NYSC National Governing Board, said this when she went to the NYSC orientation camp in Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai local government area, Akwa Ibom State, for one day.

She praised the state corps members' discipline and told them to keep it up throughout their service year.

"I'm glad I can be here today. I knew she was a good manager when I met your Coordinator at the airport.

"I'm even happier about the recommendation I got about the corps members in Akwa Ibom for the year 2022. People have told me you are the best.

"I've been told that, other than the problem with the electricity, you don't have any major problems in this camp.

"The only thing I'm going to tell you is that, based on what your Coordinator told me, you should keep the same behavior and discipline.

"By God's grace, if you do this, you will do better than you can imagine," he said. "Many of us who are parents and grandparents will keep praying for you and hoping that you do well in your future plans."

Abubakar promised that the federal government and the state government will work together to solve the few problems that the camp in the state is having.

Mrs. Chinyere Ekwe, who is the State Coordinator of NYSC, thanked the Board for coming to the camp.

She said that the 1691 corps members who are now in the state are the best group so far.

Ekwe said that NYSC has built a strong relationship with the state government, the security agencies, and other important groups.

But the Coordinator asked for help buying diesel, which is also known as auto gas oil, so that the corps members can always have power since there is no electricity in the camp.
