The Ekiti Assembly swears in a new member.

Oluwole Fatoba is now a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly. He was given his oath of office today.

Fatoba won a by-election on June 18 to replace Oluwajuwa Adegbuyi, who died in January 2021. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress. When Adegbuyi died, his seat was left empty.

The Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, prayed that the House would never have to see another death when the new member took the oath of allegiance.

As the new lawmaker walked into the chamber, Afuye greeted him and told him, "Always keep the oath of office."

"I have what it takes to represent the people in my district well," the new lawmaker said in response. I will help the legislature, my district, and Ekiti State as a whole work together and move forward in a good way.

Fatoba thanked Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the governor of the state, and Bisi Fayemi, the governor's wife, as well as the APC members in the state and in his district, for helping him win the election.
